CEO Update: Our 2023–2024 Annual Report (Yes, Really)
If you’ve supported VoteAmerica for any length of time, you know we’re relentlessly focused on turning out voters.
That focus explains a few things about the linked 2023-2024 Annual Report. It’s dense with meaningful programs. It’s candid about what worked and what didn’t. And yes — it’s coming to you at the tail end of 2025.
This year, as threats to voting rights intensified nationwide, we made a choice to keep our heads down and do the work rather than pause to document it. Unfortunately, attacks on democracy have the uncanny ability to arrive exactly when it’s least convenient to pause and write reflective documents about them.
We trust you’ll understand (and, if you’re anything like us, appreciate the prioritization) because here’s what that kind of relentless focus delivered in 2023–2024:
- We mobilized more than 230,000 Wisconsin college students in a pivotal Supreme Court race, contributing to historic student turnout with national implications.
- We engaged voters across Ohio during a surprise August ballot measure, helping set the conditions for the November passage of constitutional protections for reproductive freedom.
- In the 2024 general election, our billboards alone reached 50 million people across 10 states, delivering clear, trusted voting information at scale.
- Our college media campaigns reached 1.4 million students across 127 campuses, producing turnout lifts no other tactic matched.
- Millions more relied on VoteAmerica’s civic infrastructure to check their registration, request an absentee ballot, and receive precise, practical election reminders — when to vote, where to go, and what to bring.
This report shows what held up under pressure: what scaled, what didn’t, what became core to our work, and what we deliberately left behind. When we say we’re tactic agnostic, we mean it.
