CEO Update: We still have time to turnout millions of young voters

I’ll try to keep this email relatively short and to the point.  I just want to share an update on our GOTV work.

First, I want to share that so far we have raised ~$400,000 in just a matter of weeks.  Second, the first wave of our campus program just wrapped up.  We targeted 13 campuses in 7 states promoting online voter registration.  Now we’re moving to the GOTV phase.

Our GOTV program will target campuses in the most competitive districts across the country and will include student newspaper ads (both digital and print), on campus billboards, posters, influencer posts, and campus newsletters sent via email.  As of now, we have the funding to run the program on close to 50 campuses in competitive districts in AZ, FL, GA, MI, NC, NV, OH, PA, and WI.  With additional funding, we’ll keep working our way down our list of target campuses.  Click here to see the full list.

Not only will this GOTV program promote the date of the election, it will inform students where Same Day Registration is available.  Right now, there are roughly 8 million students attending schools in SDR states.  With the low rates of youth registration this year compared to 2018, promoting SDR will be essential to increasing youth turnout.

I said this in my last email, but it is still true – I know you’re tired of people asking you for money.  I’m tired of asking you for money.  But this program is a good investment: it yields between a 2 percentage point and 9 percentage point increase in turnout.  Your dollars will go further in a midterm election than they do in a presidential election.  And a young person who casts a ballot in a midterm election is 55% more likely to vote again in the 2024 election than a young person who skips this year.  So this program is basically a two-for-one special: invest in 2022, and get 2024 on the house.

19 days to go!
